Interested in the banalities of urbanism, Welsh reinterprets everyday visual signifiers – from ubiquitous advertising to city rent-a-bike schemes – into new manifestations through tactics of appropriation, erasure and transfiguration.

Materiality emphasises the ruptures and loss of information within this process; functionality is obliterated, images pixelate and fragment, and the historical and conceptual nuances of a given site or method of display are recalibrated.

These disparate elements coalesce to create layered sculptures and drawings.
