The Cornerstone Gallery 7 June – 29 September 2013
Processing is an exhibition of new work by photographers Kevin Casey, Stephen King and McCoy Wynne.
Each photographer will present new works from three significant documentary photography projects in advanced stages of development. To encourage critical dialogue and new artistic outcomes, collaborations have been instigated between the photographers and three writers.
Kevin Casey’s Chamber series documents the staff, patients and inner workings of the UK’s decompression chambers, highlighting the various uses of Hyperbaric medicine and its practices. Joni Karanka, artist and co-founder of the Third Floor Gallery in Cardiff, will be producing a written response to the Chamber series.
Stephen King will be exhibiting work from ‘Here To There’, an on going survey of ‘desire paths’ – a term coined by architectural planners and human geographers to describe footpaths that are gradually worn into the environment between recognised pathways or buildings. Stephen will be collaborating with Linda Pittwood, exhibition coordinator and arts writer based in Liverpool.
McCoy Wynne‘s Triangulation series is an on-going five-year project to visit all 314 Primary triangulation points built and measured between 1936 and 1962 by the Ordnance Survey for a project known as the Retriangulation of Great Britain. The project intends to visit all 314 points and, using the pillar as a point of reference, produce 360-degree panoramas of the topographical view. McCoy Wynne will be collaborating with Kenn Taylor, a writer, journalist and project manager based in Liverpool, to visit their next triangulation point.
Processing is a challenge and opportunity for the photographers to test new ideas and enter into critical discussion: a process that could potentially change the trajectory of these ‘work in progress’.
Processing is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
The exhibition is part of the Parallel Programme of the LOOK/13 International Photography Festival.
The project has been coordinated by Jack Welsh, an artist, writer and arts administrator based in Liverpool.

Collusion was an ambitious collaboration between Rich White and Brychan Tudor held at Arena Gallery.
The commissioned joint work fused White’s radical architectural interventions with Tudor’s cerebral use of the projected image. Collusion responded directly to the unique architectural features of Arena Gallery, referencing the history of the former industrial trade building where Arena was located.
