After producing a commissioned installation piece for the Wrong Love event at the A Foundation, it has been a productive few weeks in many senses.
Our brand spanking new Arena website is nearly ready to launch and have spent time finalising content, such as gallery archive pages which are important when developing a sense of what the gallery has/is trying to achieve. We had the opening of our first show of the new year, ‘a solitary cosmopolitan’ which showcased new work by London artist Justin Eagle. It was a pleasure to meet Justin when he came to install his work and conceptually and physically, I believe it is one of the best shows we’ve had and a excellent way to start the 2010 gallery programme.
Our next show is shaping up nicely, from an idea that I had over a year ago, installation artists Brychan Tudor and Rich White will be collaborating on a joint exhibition in Arena for March…as time approaches it is intriguing to see how ideas are developing and I personally can’t wait for the Collusion.
Also if you have ideas about what artists need, then there is a good chance that you will be contacted soon. The next TAXED event is starting to develop and we will be very soon asking peers and artists in the city ‘what is it that they need?’ ahead of a day of skill exchange and interaction. So it’s quite a busy time at the minute, so busy, website updates are being neglected! There’s always Twitter, I guess….
